The Landscaping Division is committed to the environment and has embarked on an innovative forest plantation initiative in the mountainous outskirts of Ohrid, Macedonia.
The Spaseski family has a long and proud agricultural history with much farming land used today to supply the Balkan region with fresh produce. Regretfully there is also depleted natural forest, neglected and overused land throughout the region.
In the mid 1980's George believed plantation forests were the necessary response to balancing environmental conservation with demand for timber and paper production. Plantation forests reduce salinity, absorb carbon dioxide and provide numerous socio-economic advantages to communities. George replaced a depleted and neglected mountain forest area with pine seedlings.
The experimental plantation has been a success. Spaseski and Associates Pty Ltd is now working with Macedonian authorities to explore plantation management initiatives. Staged logging and rotation planting may commence from as early as 2015.

Thinning process undertaken in 2009. Whilst these young logs are too small for commercial use, they were donated to local villages to provide structural supports for housing and barn construction.
